Seems it's only Obama and the radical liberals on this forum who think it's OK to spend that much money, propelling the nation into bankruptcy.

Luckily, Congress is going to say no.

"Luckily, Congress is going to say no."

Congress always does. Oftentimes the budget is declared "dead on arrival" by Congress. This time, it wasn't.

There is always some cuts made, some tweaking, etc.

Bill Nelson is a moderate Democrat from a very conservative state, I'm not surprised he is tweaking things some.

One wonders what a McCain budget would look like with the inclusion of a long term Iraq presence.

Me think Deane is foaming at the mouth.

Bush propelled the nation into bankruptcy, Obama is trying to save it.

>>propelled the nation into bankruptcy
this country is headed grossly the wrong direction fiscally and the current administration is obviously shooting in the dark and has very little clue of what's going on.
This is madness...we're in for more distruction...sadly...

"Me think"

Are you sure?

"Bush propelled the nation into bankruptcy, Obama is trying to save it."

With massive deficit spending? I'd like to be a salesman calling on you. You'll buy anything.

I'm not saying this is accurate - but here is what things look like to me sometimes;

Bush spent a LOT of money to keep us safe, in his mind. Those of you who felt that was a priority did not have too much of a problem with that. I called it a smash and grab tactic at the time - it bothered me that so many people got rich off of that tactic - but there was a core of nobility in that.

Obama is doing that exact same thing; Spending a lot of money on what he terms as multiple crisis'. Not everything that he's spending money on is a direct result of Bush's spending or mess. But they do happen to be things that I like that we are addressing; Infrastructure, education, environment and yes, lots of mess to clean up. But the core of it is also to do good things. I like getting a turn at this as Republicans did under Bush.

I have to admit though, just as I got a tad jumpy with Bush's spending policies ( namely Iraq. But other spending aas well ) I cannot help but feel like Obama is doing the exact same thing.

All the causes were generally noble and well-intentioned - but VERY expensive - but VERY needed, in my opinion. For every pig shit study cited, I can name at least one that was an equivalent for Bush.

So here is the best spin I can put on all this; What a luxury it is to be able to spend like this after Bush. Let's say Bush's policies worked and we are, in fact, safer. Just for the sake of argument, we are. I like that Obama can operate in an environment like that so now we can get healthy as a nation.

My biggest fear is that Obama's plan will NOT work as sold and this will be viewed as Democrats smashing and grabbing. But if we are going to use " We are safer " as a marker for Bush, then I like being able to say " We are more healthy from Obama."

We'll see, I guess. But I am reserving judgment for a while just yet. I have to admit though, it does make me jumpy. I'm just speaking for myself here. I can't help it. I'm trying to be objective. I cannot muster pretending that I don't feel nervous. Not overly so. Just, you know, jumpy.

With massive deficit spending?

Better to spend it HERE instead of what DUHbya did by flushing it down the toilet in Iraq. BILLIONS every month!!!! Makes what Obama's doing look like a bake sale at a local elementary school!

Bush never put the cost of Iraq and Afghanistan in the budget, so by definition it never affected the deficit which is a measure of the budget vs. those items in the budget. It, of course, made a huge difference in the overall debt, however.

President Obama's budget includes these items.
