That's sad for the Palin's...hoping and praying things still will work out for Bristol, Levi, and Tripp to be together as family.

I think this IS the " work out " for all 3 kids.

It's not like marriage between two people is always the best.

CJ your are so right. I'm not at all surprised this happened. You can only put on aires and a smiley face for so long.

Bristol was part of the collateral damage that was her mom's political campaign. I did feel sorry for the girl that such a private family matter was on every newspaper stand, internet site and TV/radio station. She deserved better.

Yep. A marriage "for the sake of the kids" isn't the good call it's propped up to be.

If they get out of the media spotlight, they probably have a shot at getting on with their lives.

Especially when those involved ARE kids.

The facts: Bristol was taught abstinence only and got pregnant.

Proof that abstinence only education is a failure.

Had she been properly educated she would have been armed with the knowledge of how to PREVENT becoming pregnant whether or not she has sex.

Translation: Abstinence only education works until it doesn't!

That needs to be on a few billboards, T-Shirts and bumper stickers.

Pardon my cynicism, but I think that this is what is likely to happen to kids who have parents that are rich and powerful, when those parents routinely use their wealth and power on behalf of their children. The kids grow up knowing and expecting that mommy and daddy will pull their asses out of the fire when they get into trouble. Thus, they never learn to take responsibility for their actions.

Flunking out of school? No problem; the parents have money for tutors and tuition.

Drug or alcohol issues? No problem; the parents will pay for rehab.

Can't get a job? No problem; the parents will pay room and board.

Pregnancy? No problem; the parents will pay to raise the kids and do damage control on the family's reputation.

When I was a teenager, one of the things that I feared most was the prospect of getting a girl pregnant. If that happened, I believed, my future would be shot, because instead of going to college, I would have to get a redneck job working amongst rednecks to struggle to support my newly created redneck family. I certainly didn't want that to happen. Side note: my lack of grace in dealing with the fairer sex helped to keep this scenario from happening.
