It doesn't say anything in the article about him being a Republican. But when have facts ever mattered to the Democrats and especially the ones on this board?

Again Trixter shows his hatred for anybody that believes the Bible, ALSO with no substantiation from the article. Another one where facts don't matter.

If any one of the very few Republicans on this board had made any of the statements about this being a Democrat every one of you would have come completely unglued.

It just shows the Democrats true colors and intent.

On that note, I'll share what I received in an email today.

Well, the Republicans are the ones that opened their tent to the 23 percenters, and haven't exactly been model citizens. Those 23 percenters are a serious problem. Good voting bloc, but not a winning one the way things are right now.

The true colors of the Democrats are to run the nation better and step up for ordinary Americans. That is what it is always about.

The intent is to take no shit from obstructionists, who haven't brought new ideas to the table.

If that happens, they will be considered, just like all the other ideas are.

There is lots to be fixed, and there are probably good, conservative solutions to be considered. If so, they need to be brought to the table.

Haven't seen that yet.

Sorry Skybill, the Republican brand is pretty lousy given what has happened. You know, it's perfectly ok to be a conservative and NOT be a Republican.

I sure would consider it!

Was bad enough for me in 2003, I switched. Just having the (R) is a no-vote, even if they are otherwise good people.

Why?

I can't support the 23 percenters, and voting or supporting Republicans, in their current state, does exactly that.

This country needs to break up the two major parties that only seek to serve themselves into something that provides for all of the ideas that are out there an opportunity to be discussed. There needs to be an opportunity for the absolutely smallest government possible folks (Libretarians) to the largest government possible folks (Socialists) and everyone in-between to debate policy choices so that our public policy creation is a deliberate choice rather than posturing between two parties who only want to preserve the status quo of mediocrity. Both of the major parties only want to continue their existence rather than the creation of good public policy.

I believe that for some public policy issues greater government intervention would be the best public policy; on the other hand, for other public policy issues the private sector could provide the needed service much more effectively. The only way we will ever get to that rational evaluation is to allow a broader debate than the current "Nah-Nah-Ne-Nah-Nah, my way is better!" "Says who?" "Says me!" ...school-yard fight that is a poor execuse for rational debate.

I am curious - Skybill? Trixter? -- do either of you see value in my proposition? I am truly interested in knowing if others from apparently different ends of spectrum are seeing anything attrractive in this idea.

Nice!!

No I didn't see him, but that's cool.

I don't see a third party happening anytime soon.

Where it's at is primary politics. We can and absolutely should be running challengers against marginal politicians. The Internet and how Obama used it has changed the game considerably.

IMHO, the options are to deal, not vote, vote one or the other, waste a vote on a third party, or change one of the existing parties.

A viable third party has to get some seats first, so they can build and be relevant. Even 10 seats would change the game enough to matter. Lobbing one in for the Presidency is just a spoiler, and we pay huge for that.

Not my kind of game. Life is too short to spend that length of time hearing people basically say, "see? If more of you voted, things wouldn't suck right now." It's negative and it hurts people.

Running the challengers really doesn't do that, or at least does it to a much lesser degree, and it serves the dual purpose of putting established members of Congress on notice (always good), and providing a means for other parties or movements to gestate and grow.

The guy who sent his HIV infected blood To obama is an idiot!

Now I've read two different stories, and they might have been two different incidents.

One guy sent his Hiv infected blood in a vile, and another guy sliced his hand with a razor blade, dripping his HIV blood all over a letter sent to the president.

These guys are both idiots, for starters, HIV can't live for very long outside the human body. Second, The president does not open his own mail.

Conservatives are still in denial about their failure, aren't they?
Let's all have a little sympathy, shall we ...

Please allow me to introduce myself
Im a man of wealth and taste
Ive been around for a long, long year
Stole many a mans soul and faith
And I was round when jesus christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around st. petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a generals rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
I shouted out,
Who killed the kennedys?
When after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
Im a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But whats confusing you
Is just the nature of my game
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me lucifer
cause Im in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or Ill lay your soul to waste, um yeah
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, um yeah
But whats puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, um mean it, get down
Woo, who
Oh yeah, get on down
Oh yeah
Oh yeah!
Tell me baby, whats my name
Tell me honey, can ya guess my name
Tell me baby, whats my name
I tell you one time, youre to blame
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Oh, yeah
Whats me name
Tell me, baby, whats my name
Tell me, sweetie, whats my name
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Oh, yeah

Reagan's Secy of Agriculture James Watt: "an undesirable element [fans of The Beach Boys]"

In 1983, Watt banned The Beach Boys from playing a Fourth of July concert on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., saying that rock concerts drew "an undesirable element";

In 1995, Watt was indicted on 25 counts of felony perjury and obstruction of justice . . . On March 12, 1996 he was sentenced to five years probation . . .

In a 2001 interview, Watt applauded the Bush administration energy strategy and said their prioritization of oil drilling and coal mining above conservation is just what he recommended in the early 1980s. "Everything Cheney's saying, everything the president's saying - they're saying exactly what we were saying 20 years ago, precisely ...

Man, people never learn. Conservatives and thugs, over and over again.

Reading the stories about the guy who sent the HIV-infected blood, I don't see any evidence that this was a partisan act. It sounds more like the guy is just crazy. Was he hoping that the person who opened the envelope would get a paper cut? :-)

He did succeed in one thing: the office where the letters were opened were shut down for two hours and a hazmat team was called in. Thus, taxpayer money was wasted both in containing the potential HIV contamination and in the form of lost productivity. Gee, thanks!
