I was up in Seattle over the weekend and heard the newly moved KMCQ 104.5 (formerly in The Dalles, now in the Seattle suburb of Covington).

I only listened for a few minutes, but as near as I could tell, there are no live announcers, no commercial, no jingles. Nothing but "oldies" music and an occasional taped station I.D.

I am assuming they moved the station to Seattle for more purpose than that....?

"Not as much profit these days..."

It would seem that we could be getting close to the point of "diminishing returns" with all of these "move in" stations... Does anybody know if there has been a "move back" or "move out" yet?

True that. Especially since up until about a week ago - First Broadcasting's attempts to move the stick to Cougar Mountain had been thwarted by Canada's CRTC. Recent developments may remove that roadblock very soon and once the stick is moved it's sold (probably to Bonneville or CC).

If they aren't transmitting yet from Cougar Mountain, from where are they currently sending the signal out? It seemed to be a pretty decent signal (at least driving up I-5)

This was in this morning's Inside Radio about "move outs."

The FCC Lets Clear Channel Keep Stations Marked For Sale.

As an FCC-mandated two-year waiting period expires following a station’s move from one market to another, the FCC is allowing Clear Channel to keep five stations that had been put in the Aloha Station Trust until a buyer could be found. Clear Channel will keep Fresno Spanish adult hits “La Preciosa” KFSO-FM (92.9) after it moved rhythmic CHR “B-95” KBOS-FM (94.9) from that metro to Visalia-Tulare-Hanford. New Orleans rocker KYRK (104.1) was moved to Baton Rouge and Orlando “Real Rock 101.1” WJRR shifted its metro to Melbourne-Titusville. Albuquerque modern rock “The Edge” KTEG (104.1) was shifted to the Santa Fe market while Grand Rapids modern rock “Radio X 96.1” WMAX-FM moved into Muskegon, MI. CHR “Kiss 96.5” WAKS, Akron and classic hits “Kool 105.5” WOLL, West Palm Beach don’t have FCC clearance yet, although it appears likely they too will stay in the Clear Channel family. Clear Channel was required to spin-off the stations to win FCC approval as part of Bain Capital and Thomas H. Lee Partners’ buyout.
