Before going to bed, I want to wish everybody a Happy Groundhog Day.

The "other stuff" has to do with the free Grand Slam breakfasts that Denny's says that they will be serving, starting at 6AM on Feb. 3. If I can drag myself to Beaverton early enough, I may be chowing down on one of these. I am surprised that apparently, there are no strings attached, other than limited quantities, to this offer. I suspect that to even have hopes of getting one of these breakfasts, one needs to be at the restaurant before 6AM (even though the offer officially goes to 2PM).

Denny's breakfast tastes like Dog poop! By far the nastiest breakfast place in the country. IHOP is number 2.
Ever have a burger at IHOP?? If you haven't, DON'T!!!!!!!!!

Call me a rube: I love Denny's and IHOP. I stay away from the hamburgers, though. My heart says that hamburgers are a food of the Devil! :-) I can almost taste the delights of free food now!

Ground Hog Day is my sister's birthday among other things so we've had fun with that through the years.

Best breakfast is the one I make every morning.

This morning's menu: Waffles with organic cherries, semi-sweet chocolate chips and all natural maple syrup from New Seasons, sprinkled with a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg.

I had the free Grand Slam breakfast this morning. To avoid feeling guilt over the calories in the syrup, bacon, and sausages, I decided to make the trip by bicycle. It was about 12 miles from my house to the closest Denny's. I arrived about 7:15 AM. I had to stand in line for 45 minutes, but I'm glad that I didn't have to deal with any parking hassles. While standing in line, I saw a senior manager from the company that I previously worked for. He didn't recognize me, and I was surprised that a man of his stature would have the same desire for a free breakfast that I did. The trip to work was another 12 miles.

I can't complain that the calories from the breakfast will turn me into a big ol' fat guy. I can't complain that the breakfast cost too much. All around, everything was great!

You betcha!! It especially tastes good after you have ridden 12 miles and stood in line outside for upwards of 30 minutes. It is a little slice of heaven! :-) (metaphorically speaking, of course)

One other thing that I forgot to mention is that as I was on TV Highway near 185th, I had this really cool view of the outline of Mount Hood against the bluish-purple dawn sky. I wish that I had had a camera with me!
