I'll be at the KPDX tower Monday morning to find out why our transmitter lost it's satellite feed.

I bet when I get there that I'll find it got whacked by ice coming off the tower during the storms! We lost the feed on 05-JAN.

KATU's microwave network and ENG equipment populate the length of the tower. It's not going anywhere. KPDX's tower has got plenty of renters with various dishes and antennae, doubt it's going anywhere anytime soon either.

You can't put every microwave link in Sylvan on one tower without a study of the wind loading on the tower and many dishes are pointing in the same direction and can't all be at the same elevation further complicating the who goes where and intermod issues.

To mulitplex them all and then put up one dish for all multi use paths might be a future move, making the single tower theory work, but think of the money that study would cost ...

Since all those FMs and KOPB-TV left the KPDX tower, I didn't know if anything was left, other than the departing channels 48 and 49. Thanks!

Except for the Digital Transmitter, everything KATU does is at the SD site. All the microwave, SNG, ABC dishes, plus the two larger sat dishes are all there. Time may consolidate. maybe remove the CH2 antenna and lower the tower........??????
