Looks like some part timers are out, according to the website. Morning show now on on Saturday also, with Inessa doing overnights. Longer shifts for some staff it looks like.

Not long ago, they we're live 24/7. Now I bet they're doing a lot of voice tracking, probably after 7 PM and on weekends. I hope that when the economy turns around they get back to live programming. Tracy Renee, Brandi Parissi, Rubi Sinclair, and Donna Negus are all out.

Could KINK be going to Clear Channel? (105.9 could be sold off to make this possible.)

That will be very weird hearing a Voice tracked KINK! You knew this day was going to come.
Why would KINK be the only station o stay live 24/7?? When every station across the country is starting to do more voice tracking.

If KINK is sold to Clear Channel, say goodbye. Sure, it may still be called KINK, but the station as we know it would end. Clear Channel would run it into the ground as it has already done to countless other once-great stations. And they've announced even deeper cuts coming next week! I wouldn't be suprised if CBS holds on to the three remaining FM stations it has in Portland.

actually. clear channel AAA formats do alright. cities 97 in minneapolis is closely related and despite a few cutbacks, the station still sounds great. that format is somewhat under the radar, because the CC big wigs haven't figured out how to control it yet.

There was no announcement. I was just adding to Radioxpert's "what if" comment.

It would be highly unlikely that CC would buy a couple stations from CBS (Jammin'& KHits) and then come back a few months later and buy another...especially if it required a divestiture on their part.

If CC had wanted/could have afforded KINK, it would have bought it in lieu of Khits or Jammin'. Odds are, since KINK is a strong revenue producer, CBS is asking absolutely the max they think the market can bear.

...except K-Hits and Jammin' are part of a trade. Would Cumulus move into this market? I can't think of many major players left!

Interesting, all the talk about KINK being voice tracked in some dayparts. You may recall in it's early incarnations KINK was completely automated, everything on cart. I think the PD (Jeff?) was the lone voice on the station. Amusing how things come full circle.

"Amusing how things turn full circle?" More like sad.

Well yes it is sad. But I wasn't thinking "amusing" in the ha-ha sense, more in the "Hmmmm, I'll be damned" vain.

I thought the host of Oregon Field Guide was Steve Amen. Or is Jeff/Steve the same guy??

They are different people. I must have been thinking of Oregon Art Beat. See and hear Jeff at the link.

Jeff was once the voice of KINK, he moved into the station managers seat later and then moved on to OPB. Jeff is now the station mgr. of Oregon Public Broadcasting and also host of Oregon Art Beat as well.
