I've heard this story reported several times as a legitimate news story. Bob Miller expressed some disbelief on his show this morning, that is, he said that he wasn't sure whether this was a stunt or not. When the first baiouts happened, I sadly knew that wouldn't be the end. :-(

If Larry would just push away from the poker table, he could finance his upgrade. It's reported that he loses millions at the poker table. He likes to play and help the "Pros" out. And the Pros love to fleece a sucker(Flint).

The only humor that I see is that I thought that the "adult entertainment" industry was fairly lucrative, especially after the advent of the Internet. This is one of the last industries that I would expect to need government money!

If your gonna give a bailout to the porn industry it needs to go to those who deserve it. The working ladies and yes men. The strippers afterall they are the ones in real need.

Flynt has enough money he could buy his way onto the Vegas strip if he wanted.

Fox produces some pretty salacious programming. Ever notice that? I think this is something that more people are aware of but I never hear much about. It's like they try and induce absolution by harping on the conservative side of their news.

It's odd.

Really odd.

You know, there is probably some thing to that. Repressed people tend to binge then purge. So, catch the FOX smut, then watch the GOP try to legislate it away.

Take a shower, wash, rinse, repeat until Sunday!

Feel good for one day, maybe relax, knock back a bottle or two, 'cuz it's been a hard week, sleep it off and about Tuesday, the cycle begins again.

To which they would say " Well at least we try to be clean."...completely missing the hypocrisy of pretending that we don't notice the other stuff. Fuck. They have it SCHEDULED. It's not like their programming sneaks up on them every week.

I think that's what infuriates many liberals; The PRETENDING. But their demo is, in all seriousness, are people who don't know they are being duped. That's a sore spot for me. They know beter and continue to pretend they are not doing it.

Of course, you know, the ONLY way to get a change of that would be for them to take it in the sack for ratings on their news shows. Since that is the programming they have all draped with an American flag.

It can't be 24 - too popular. Too many people want to feel in power AND persecuted. It speaks to them. They IDENTIFY with that scenario.

It can't be American Dad. It's a cartoon. They feel it's a subversive way to get their true agenda and message out there. The rest of us don't think it's subversive or making anyon think...unless you count Barney Rubble...what an actor.

American Idol ? Nope. Not as long as they go with the most milqetoast winners they can find.

America's Most Wanted. Bukkake fest for the mall cops with crew cuts and 68 pounds over weight.

Are you smarter than a 5th grader. Fuck NO you aren't. You know you're not. But hell, live out your dream, I guess. Go for it. Maybe you'll get asked to the prom you obliged to notify me when you live in my neighborhood flunkie.

Bones. Never seen it. Well, that's not true. I saw it when it was SCI.

The Cleveland Show - The firt spiun off from Family Guy. And only Fox would insist that a whate man do the voice of Cleveland.

Cops - Started in Portland and spread like fucking herpes with a crack addiction. ( Note Animal Cops : Houston. It's alaways Houston or Detroit. Now I've noticed they are filming in 3rd world countries now, Yeah, Less legal hassle. More depressing treatment of pets. FUCKING PETS! Hell, they probably ARE fucking pets. )

Jeopary is to Don't Forget The Lyrics as American Idol is to Deal or No Deal.

House. Well, House I kind of like. I like being able to literally set my watch as the 3rd act starts with a " We thought we had the right diagnosis...but now he's stopped eating his own shit. So now we don't know what to think. What was that first idea I dismissed last time around?....Hungy. Yes. I think he's hungry. Someone start him out slow with a bowl of chili with extra corn in it. See if that stabalizes the patient...and make the bowl from an old elephant dump." That all takes place at the :31 mark. Watch for it.

The Moment Of Truth. Grat actors on that show, But once again, it's the audience that is duped into thinking they are watching real life.

Fox should start work on " The Star Chamber " lawyers bringing their recertly lost case to a jury of fellow lawyers. They make ther case and a decision is reached. And it always end in death for the " bad guy."

Kitchen Nightmares. You ever seen footage of Ramsey when he was doing this show in England? Positively normal and respected. But he wears boots for US restaurants. He need to use them one at a time.

King of the Hill. It's dead now. Always has been.

Which leaves Family Guy. And Thank God for Family Guy.

And I don't know what kind of in-house term they call the females on camera when looking at applicants, but there is for SURE a Fox news anhor has to have if you are going to be on camera. Libraian type that wants to secretly suck your dick. Deeply repressed.

And speaking of getting my dick sucked, I cannot WAIT until Rescue Me starts back up. The sallaciusness pales in comparison to the outright brutality and humor that show offers.

LOL!!!

With you on Family Guy. Great stuff. I had no idea until my son watched it enough to make me laugh.

You nailed it absolutely with the PRETENDING. It's all a big dodge. The out. The technicality. Whatever. It's just there so they can pull their little, "I know I'm just a repressed ass, but need to feel better about it" string, and look around to see who else pulled theirs too.

Those are friends. They are in the club. They know how "the world really works" and they understand about "teaching people a lesson", and that's usually about "how the world really works!".

Fuckers.

I like an honest asshole. I really do.

I don't like fake people, who play little games instead of just being real about it.

Feel uncomfortable about the gay people? Ok. Just be honest about that, instead of invoking god knows what to try and somehow take the high ground, like it's their fault there is a problem.

Pretending at church. Pretending at the school events. Pretending at work. Just freaking pretending.

As repressed as many of them are, that plus the identity confusion that comes with that, means pretending in marriage too.

That sells a whole lotta boose 'n porn, and just make sure nobody can smell it, or see the stash on Sunday.

Like midgit porn? Fine. Be real about it. I like Tiki themed bizzaro porn. Cool! Let's trade and compare!

And know what? A whole lot of younger people have picked up on this. They like it real. I think how crappy and divided it has gotten, along with their lives being increasingly used as pulpits have slapped a lot of them hard and early.

They don't have time for it!

You are who you are. No crime in that. Maybe you are kind of trashy, skanky, wierd, goth, gay, who knows. Don't care.

What matters is if you can step up and just be real about that. If you feel good about it, then it's not gonna be all that bad. If you don't feel good about it, then you've got a problem, so fix that, then feel good about who you are.

I hear variations on this a lot.

Fake is gonna be the new gay, the new black. Just watch. It's already starting with teens watching morbidly fake reality shows. They are not there watching because they are fooled. No way.

They are there because they can smell the sell baby! It's one of these human morbid interest things we all do. They watch FAKE people, be fake because it's important to know all the ways one can be fake, because god forbid, actually being FAKE is just an insult to everybody else, waste of time, wuss way to live.

Total opposite of FOX.

Gonna be a fun ride!

Oh, and I'm there. Hate fake. (as if you all can't tell!) Post it up, real, honest, and no holds barred. From there good stuff can happen, we are all nut-bags every once in a while, and that's cool.

Only thing that matters is the conversation is actually real. It's only worth something if it's real, and that something is knowing one another, learning, growing, experiencing.

Fake is like that trip to Disneyland. Feels good for a while, but you just know reality is coming back. No way to live.

You can't really believe that FOX is the only one that does that.

They ALL do it. That's how they generate their revenue.

And whether the libs want to believe it or not, "Faux" news is as far to the right as "Communist News Network" is to the left.

Because CNN spews what they (the Libs) want to hear, they(the Libs) will never admit it..

Absolutely they do it Skybill!

Which is why the salacious comment was just nuts!

Adding to that, FOX is special because they make a "fair and balanced" claim that is absolutely laughable. And a lot of righties buy it!

CJ and I just got done ranting on their programming offerings and it's hilarious to watch the news arm chest thump like that, then watch the entertainment arm do what it does.

The other news networks just do news. They have their biases, and that's just how it is.

Only FOX makes a point of saying they AREN'T doing that, when they so clearly are. They have HANNITY on. Of course they are!

And that lack of clarity is just disturbing really. Kind of like the disturbing kinds of behavior mentioned on this thread.

Like they don't have to be that disturbing, kind of disturbing.

All of 'em do ratings news. All of them have bias (and it's corporate more than anything else), and only FOX denies this regularly in their branding.

Something is wrong with FOX.

When their viewers are more confused about the facts of the day than those of any other network, something is wrong with FOX.

Then Broadway comes on and basically implies that if they would clean up the smutty news, it would somehow be better.

Laughable. And kind of bizzare really.

FOX is FAKE is what it is. Big time posers.

CNN does have their own issues. No doubt. Rick Sanchez and Tony Harris and even Lou Dobbs all drive me a little batshit. Especially Rick Sanchez.

The difference between CNN and Fox, or at least A difference, is that Fox really goes out of their way to try and make me feel guilty for questioning anything they say. I find that more than a little frustrating. I believe it is hypocritical to a degree that is unmatched on just about any major media outlet. All that insinuation with no actual truth. All those chyrons with question marks after them as if that somehow gives them an out; " We didn't say that Obama is a Muslim. We just asked the question 167 times. Even after we got the answer; No!, we like creating doubt about people we don't like. We clearly put a question mark after all those kinds of statements. That let's us off the hook. So if anyone else comes to the conclusion that the answer is YES, that's not our fault."

Which is a lie. It IS their fault.

Speaking of pretending, let's stop pretending that liberals are bothered by Fox purely because of ratings or that they have the guts to say things that CNN doesn't. It's for the lying and the implying. Not everyone is bothered by that.

I am. And I think I an prove or at least show my work on how I got there.

Totally. I don't like FOX because of the things CJ just said, and because their clarity of presentation is very poor, and their branding does not reflect the reality of their broadcast.

Frankly, without the questionable branding and clarity, they would be laughed off the air. The stuff they regularly post up is weak. To me, it feels as if they HAVE to be fake about it, just to get by.

If their bias is supported by the facts, then they can just air that and let it stand on it's own merits.

Guess we are off the pr0n industry now huh?

When I read the news story linked at the top of this thread, I noticed that Flynt's press release said that "YouPorn," whatever that is, and pornographic websites have caused adult DVD sales to go down. Reading that made me wonder whether that press release is a subtle satire or parody of what people in the recording industry are saying about online music downloading. Before reading that press release, I would have considered pay websites with adult material to be part of the pornography industry, rather than competitors to it.

That's actually a good point to remember; Just because a competitor is causing you to lose business, doesn't mean that they or you are doing anything wrong. If you can't make it work, and they can, the've built a better mouse trap. You banked on subscritions and ruled for a while. Now the model has changed. Sink or swim, I guess.

Im curious how Hugh Heffner and Playboy are doing. Who buys Playboy Magazines anymore??? The days of running out to a 7-11 buying a playboy, running home, doing your business in the bathroom, then hiding the playboy under the bed mattress so MOM or a significant other wont see it is OVER!!
It is soooo much easier to download porn and naked women on the internet. Plus its a lot more comforting to do it in the privacy of your own house. Buying a playboy magazine in public is like buying condoms, its embarrassing as hell.

I kinda miss Playboy Magazines, especially the great articles. Afterall, I only looked at a Playboy for the great articles:-)

At least he built his empire. He's not like the head of Chrysler, run one company into the ground, take a golden parachute, THEN start running another company into the ground and then go to Washington begging for a bailout in his personal jet. Flint is sleaze and doesn't hide it. I kind of respect his candor.

Mind you, they DON'T need a bailout. There's always going to be a market for porn in society and they can just find ways to make it for less. It's taking pictures of two people doing it for God's sake. How much can THAT cost? Fuck them (pun intended).
