Answer these questions and receive a FABULOUS prize!!! (To be named later)

Where was the Red Sweater taken after it was "stolen". The sweater was, in fact, in this location.

Who was the voice of the V-Necked Napper?

The Red Sweater contest was a deviation of a previous KGW contest. Name it.

Extra credit: Name the two promotion people who actually came up with the idea in the first place.

Good Luck, And stay tuned...because you just never know when you might read another clue...and...win a FABULOUS prize!

Oatsu Japan!

The sweater was a reworking of the highly successful "Where in the World Is It?" which hid a KGW Winners sticker and 10K somewhere in the world with clues everyday about the location.

One of the larger King Broadcasting stations' PDs then decided to "improve" on the original by hiding their morning man somewhere in the world... thus taking their highest rated air talent off the air during the entire rating period, and substituting bad phoners for great content.

Tdanner:

You are not eligible to win.

KGW's followup to "Red Sweater" was "Win the White House" as it was an election year. A rather pricey place out in Bauer Woods Estates was given away after some lucky listener guessed a certain sequence of presidents. KGW clients kept chipping in value added elements to the property being given away (kitchen upgrades, hot tub, etc) and the total value escalated about $50,000 above the original price. The people who won moved from Scappoose and brought their goat with them. They tied it in the front yard. Contest rules specified the winner must own the home for one year before selling. Exactly a year and a day after they took possession they sold it and moved back to Scappoose with their goat. Bottom line...

the ratings went down.

Safeway technically paid for the house with on air mentions but the station was into the promotion for over $250,000 air time and TV.

In those days KGW routinely spent about a mil a year on promotion/marketing. The return on the investment was about 4 to 1. Then again the station had a gambler for a general manger.

Today it'd be a multi-market 900-number call-in. For a bird house.

Steve Lloid and I apparently drew the short straw and had to go to Scappoose to pick up the winners of the White House. When we arrived in Scappoose in the limo, there really was a goat tied to a 1962 Dodge Pickup that was sitting on it's roof in the front yard. The winner rode through downtown Scappoose with his head sticking out of the moonroof of the limo yelling at everyone as we left town. If I remember correctly, the guy was actually packing heat! We were lucky, it stayed concealed. Very Classy!

reminds me of the Kisn picnics. Listeners could win a home picnic delivered by the goodguys. We had to stop at Whiz Burger and get all this food and bring it to the winners house. So it was me and Johnny Clark that get the gig on a Saturday. We drive into the depths of North Portland. We walk up to the door and a gangster opens it and tells us to "get the F**** in here".....There was not a stitch of furniture in the house other than this incredible dining room set that was worth thousands of dollars in those days. A little 2 year old is crying in the corner and the dad is telling him to "shut the F**** up.....We see that the guy has a gun sticking out of his pants....he becomes pissed when he sees that the burgers are cold...The girlfriend or wife starts yelling at him and he belts her good....we are then walking backwards out of the house like out of a western.....I almost crapped my pants in that house. I think our talent fee was $25 bucks back then.

Oh, there are, most definitely...It's just that the statute of limitations hasn't run out yet on most of them!

Where in the world is it? One year it was in Sorrento Italy. Another year in New Zealand. I am trying to remember which cities had it.

Didn't we fly the winner of the house into the neighborhood in a helicopter? I could be making this up.
cweaklie...I think I know the answers. Actually, I wrote the clues for the "Sweater" and "Where In The World Is It". We just kept hoping no one would pull the answer out of their secret place before we were ready for a winner.(translation: the end of the book) Fortunatly, it never happened.

Craig, I would never forget the ride in the limo from Scappoose. Besides, the goat wouldn't fit in the helicopter!
