It looks like a great documentary. I found out about it by accident while surfing the net.

Here's a trailer:

I've emailed the producer to find out if it will be available on DVD anytime soon.

Never heard of it. Sounds interesting. Please let us know what you get from the producer.

That trailer looks great. Right before the snow hit, I drove up to Portland to see "Cadillac Records". It was fun, but flawed. No mention was ever made the fact that there were two Chess brothers. No mention that Chess Records was originally called Aristocrat Records. No mention was made of Bo Diddley. I wish that they would have moved the vintage cars to different positions to illustrate a lapse of a few years in the story. I wish they would have shown some 78 rpm records in the early 1950s. I can't feature any old-time blues singers smoking filer cigarettes.

Still the movie was fun. I did enjoy the casting. I like Beyonce' playing Etta James better than Etta James playing Etta James.

So, thanks Rich, please let us know if that movie comes to our neck of the woods.

I checked that link . . . the movie is still on the film festival circuit. Typically that would indicate that it is at least a year away from a DVD release if it gets picked up by a distributor -- this of course being the typical goal of the filmmaker -- selling the film.

However if he/she decides that it won't get sold to a distributor, the producer may have already already made DVD copies to sell.

Just a warning though . . . the vast majority of film festival offerings don't get sold and don't get made into media that can be sold. May pop up on the net though.

Anyone in the business might ask for a screener copy though if they're in a position to write/broadcast a review.

Happy New Year everyone --

I'm free-lancing for an online entertainment magazine, and contacted the producers (Travisty Films)to see if there's a local showing in our future.

None are planned, so she's sending me a copy to review. I'll be happy to share when it gets here!
