I'm in Rockaway enjoying the stormage! Any suggestions on what semi-local stations I should look for? I like kmun a lot, but haven't figured out which repeater to dial in.

Or any DX stories you can share from the midnorthern coast?

KTCB 89.5 in Tillamook repeats KMUN, should be strong in Rockaway.

You should be able to get FM stations from Astoria to Newport and beyond. Locally, OPB has a repeater on 106.5 and if you're into K-Love, they have a repeater on 90.3 (KLON). Take a good AM receiver and you can have all sorts of fun at night there.

I don't know about Rockaway but I have received KBOO as far as Tillamook.
That's good to know about KTCB/KMUN. I wasn't aware of that.
The Missus and I stay in Rockaway quite often - both having coincidentally spent our childhood summers there.

You can see from this view https://goo.gl/maps/BWpgG that Rockaway is one of the least receptive places on the northern Oregon coast for signals from Portland. I'm amazed you can hear KBOO in Tillamook, but as the map shows there is less mountainous terrain between there and Portland as well as the Wilson River valley which sort of provides a chance for a much ricocheted shot to arrive somewhat intact.

Reception of Portland FM signals on the coast can be really strange. When an aunt and uncle had a house in Manzanita, whenever we visited them I could hear K-Love's 96.3 Mt Scott translator in their driveway. It was repeatable over a period of years. I confirmed which transmitter I was hearing from their TOH ID, unless they had another 96.3 that used the Portland ID by mistake.

Well, it should be easy to tell: Just go back there and if you hear it again, there's definitely something wrong! :)

Yes. I was somewhat gobsmacked by that as well. I was sitting in my car waiting for my wife - who'd popped into the Safeway - and out of sheer boredom, I started scanning for stations.
It came in pretty clearly, too. It was definitely KBOO's programming. I don't remember if I got it on their Portland 90.7 location but looking at KBOO's contour map, I don't see what else it could've been.
When I tried dialing it in on the hotel's cheapo clock radio back in Rockaway, however, I couldn't get it.
