This has happened a few times on my commute and I wanted to see if anyone else has noticed any issues...

At about 7:18 this morning my radio lost its HD lock on KXJM (107.5 FM) and it didn't come back for a minute or two. After another 3 or 4 minutes it would lose the lock again for a minute or two.

Just as I pulled in at work, it was losing HD lock for about 5 or 6 seconds then it would lock just for a second and lose it again... Did this for about 2 minutes while I pulled into my parking spot...

Yep, I just checked from Hillsboro and the HD signal just now dropped out for about a minute. :(
    Now back on!
    oops, off again!
    on again!

    Bummer!

Got this reply on the Too Wild Facebook page:

It's possible. There has been tower work for the past few weeks. At times they have to reduce power or shut down the HD signals. Fun fun.

I've seen the climbers frequently on my bike rides along the Springwater. Normally with the naked eye you can resolve the NRK D.A., but the climbers and their support gear are an obvious blob that looks out of place. They probably have to shut down the HD as the climbers pass through that region of the tower. Once they get above it they probably can turn it back on at reduced power.

I may be wrong, but what I heard this morning sounded more intermittent/random than I would expect for tower work shutdown, with "off" periods ranging from over a minute to just a few seconds. The analog FM continued to operate normally. Since the analog and HD for KXJM are combined into the same antenna panels at Sylvan, it would seem that *both* would be shut down, if there was a climber exposure issue. Sounded kinda like the problem at KQAC years ago when the old DexStar (deathstar) HD exciter was having problems.

Yeah, I got nothing on HD-2 but HD-1 is fine.

There have been several disruptions this afternoon... right now the analog is on at what appears to be full power, HD-1 is on and the digital sub-carriers appear to be at normal power (as observed on an Icom 8500), but HD-2 is indeed missing. About a half an hour ago, the whole digital stream was off.

My bad. I was talking about Stonehenge where over the last 2 - 3 weeks there have been climbers up on the antenna periodically. I failed to remember 107.5 ain't there.

It sounds, based on descriptions, that they are working on the HD transmitter chain. There is no way of pinning it down without asking them. Could be one of a hundred things. Maybe the HD-2 kept knocking the whole thing off and it resets without it or they manually turned off HD-2 so it stays up and running.

I've been told that this problem is trouble with the Nautel Exporter. Engineers are working to resolve the issue.
