Every year "Coast To Coast AM" host George Noory plays a 10 minute vintage radio story at the end of his Christmas program. Couldn't find much on the history of this recording. Story teller Lee Allen, formerly on WXYZ Detroit in 1964, mentions the letter was given to him from Ed Hardy who was WXYZ News Director. Allen mentions the story had become a tradition, broadcast on radio stations all over America for the past 25 years. Chances are you might have heard this recording decades ago:

I remember hearing it locally over WXYZ when I lived in Detroit. Great story. St. Michael is the patron saint of soldiers. I named my youngest son after him.

I think this was played as part of Christmas syndicated programming on many stations at one time. It was probably within KGW Radio's 1970's Holiday shows they carried called "The Christmas Album" from an unknown syndicator.

I thought this thread was going to be about Michael O'Brien.
