There is a rate of accidental discharge, accidental injury and accidental death for all guns out there. Don't think that putting guns in the hands of 3.5 million schoolteachers is going to change that. I know I did the calculations before, but I think statistically we should expect to see from 1 to 3 accidental shootings (not simply gun discharges, but people being shot) in schools per year if we add over three million guns to the nations classrooms. Because math.

    Who thinks it's worth it?

    "LIEberals shouldn't carry guns period."

Which of the below, would you rather was pointing a gun at you?

For Democrats, the region of the brain with the most activity was the left posterior insula, a region that is associated with processing emotions and understanding what other people are thinking or feeling.

For Republicans, the region of the brain that was most active during risky behavior was the right amygdala. This region of the brain is primarily responsible for producing fear, although it can also create anticipation of reward. It’s the part of the brain that teenagers often rely on to make decisions, one of the reasons that teens are more impulsive and aggressive than adults.

I would take the liberal in a second.

BTW, having had a loaded and cocked gun pointed at me, I would also take being a liberal with good deescalation skills too. Of which, both of those are highly likely why I am here to write this today.

Fear and shame driven people with guns = risk, injury and death above baseline levels. No thanks.

Knowing about, valuing, appreciating guns does not equate directly to safety and low risks. All of those things are merely enabling.

skybill: "I'll bet you don't have any fire extinguishers at your house because; "who needs them, we have the fire department."

Fire extinguishers don't kill 24 people for every life saved.

I have 4 fire extinguishers, and my kid, my family and all by friends have yet to have a fatal fire extinguisher accident with them.

Sane people need guns to protect themselves from drunken union thugs.

And we need protection from asinine statements like this.

"Which of the below, would you rather was pointing a gun at you?"

Chances are neither of them would be pointing a gun. I'm more worried about the gang banger that is hopped up on crack pointing a gun at me.

You should worry more about having an accident with YOUR gun.

    "I'm not worried at all."

Said the NRA member who handed the Uzi to the 9-year-old girl.
