Paul Linnman will be saying goodbye to Morning Update, 5am - 9am Friday morning. You can listen live on iHeartRadio here: http://bit.ly/KEXLive

After a short vacation, Paul will be back to deliver news and commentary segments, on the new morning show.

The Michael Castner Show moves to the KEX AMD slot on Monday, July 14. Brad Ford and Lacey Evans will be in the newsroom while Michael Convery and Lynn Masterson deliver area traffic reports. Cort Webber will produce this shiny new morning extravaganza.

Does anyone else think this sounds like the end of the beginning of the end?

What is "the new morning show" then... 9-noon?

Here's what North America is reading from All Access:

--------------------------------Michael Castner To Mornings In KEX-A Lineup Shuffle--------------------------------

CLEAR CHANNEL News-Talk KEX-A/PORTLAND has shuffled its lineup, moving afternoon host MICHAEL CASTNER to mornings. replacing PAUL LINNMAN, who has moved to a commentary role.

CASTNER, the former host of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL RADIO NETWORK's "THE DAILY WRAP," host at CLEAR CHANNEL News-Talk WRNO (RUSH RADIO 99.5)/NEW ORLEANS, and news reporter/anchor at CLEAR CHANNEL News-Talk KFI-A/LOS ANGELES and BONNEVILLE News-Talk KSL-A-F/SALT LAKE CITY, will be accompanied by co-anchor LACEY EVANS, News Director BRAD FORD, and traffic reporters MICHAEL CONVERY and LYNNE MASTERSON.

VP/Programming/PORTLAND MARK ADAMS told ALL ACCESS, “MICAHEL’s experience and winning track record across radio and TV coupled with a strong background in news, politics, and entertainment makes him the perfect choice to host mornings on KEX.”

CASTNER's move means that MICHAEL BERRY's HOUSTON-based syndicated show is moving up from 5-10p to 3-7p, and SAN ANTONIO-based "JOE PAGS" PAGLIARULO is in for 7-10p.

Why can't Kex be all local and live talk like Kfi in Los Angeles?

Because it is owned by Clear Channel and they are in a major tailspin.

I don't see any way out of Conservative Talks troubles. Even KFI is in a tailspin. The subject matter just isn't of interest to saleable demos and that's all there is to it! On top of that, it's a hard sell now because of all the controversy with Rush Limbaugh and others. I don't think it can go on this way for more than a couple more years.

I missed his last show. Did they make a big deal about the change on the air? I used to be a regular KEX morning show listener with Bob Miller and then Paul Linnman, but I drifted away as they shifted from more fun programming to more political.

Since no one answered this, no, they did not make a big deal about the change. In fact, they didn't make any deal about it at all, really. I think Rhonda Shelby may have mentioned it at one point, but other than that, they didn't acknowledge it. Word is that at least part of that was by Paul's design - he doesn't want the move seen as a "retirement."
