"There's nothing worse than overly patriotic people."

Coming from you, that doesn't surprise me one iota. Maybe you should take Trixter up on his offer to pay for a move to Iran or Iraq.

I'm curious why the district has such an policy...

The motive for the policy is to maximize the educational focus.

Without it, studens can and likely would engage in all sorts of causes. Each distracting.

I'm pretty sure my school had a similar rule.

As for the inane "how to think" comment, nobody is doing that. What they are doing is maximizing the educational environment, just as we expect them to.

IMHO, this was well handled. Nobody is angry, and it was made clear the students patriotism is a good thing. It's just not about making the best of the expensive school day.

No worries. They can post up their flags at the end of the day and express themselves fully.

"Conservatives would NEVER be the group that want to ban or limit the American flag being displayed."

That's not what I said, nor is that the entire rule, is it? My scenario goes like this: Some kid had "hot lady" mud flaps or a Bob Marley T-shirt with a marijuana leaf, and some Bible-thumper went apeshit. Covering all of their bases, the school district adopted an all-encompassing rule that bans all displays of any sort, which was hailed as great by the Bible-thumper. Little did they know at that time that it also covered things like mouth-breathing 4-wheelers sticking flags in the back of their pickups. Did you actually READ the other coverage, and not just the RWNJ Faux Outrage piece? Sounds like a pretty reasonable policy to me.

You'll need to show proof of that, otherwise it's just your opinion.

Perhaps it was the Nazi flag from a few years back and the school didn't want to play flag cop.

Union loving dickhead is your current status and not likely to ever change.

I think Skybill is jealous of those in a union.

And, I'm not a union member and wouldn't want to be. That would mean being stuck in an average paying job and punching a timeclock.

Getting back to the discussion at hand, the district has a policy for the reason stated, they don't want distractions.

What if someone showed up with a Nazi flag, or a Black Panther flag, or a Confederate flag? A Don't tread on me flag?

This is the zero tolerance utopia conservatives put into effect yet bitch about when it controls THEM.

Remember, THEM are exempt from the rules. The rules are for AYO.

    Hypocrites.

I thought I said exactly that. Sorry if you got any other impression.
