"Dozens of lawmakers and aides are so afraid that their health insurance premiums will skyrocket next year thanks to Obamacare that they are thinking about retiring early or just quitting."

It's coming at you guys. Soon, the shit will start hitting the fan.

It's good you liberals are all high rollers so you can hack these costs.

Well, seeing as we just had statistically one of the least productive Congresses in history, would a bunch of them retiring or just quitting be such a BAD thing?

Brain, you may have spaced the fact that if it costs Congress lots of money, it will cost everyone else lots of money. It's called tunnel vision.

Uncle Mort - Thank you. It didn't look right when I typed it. It still doesn't look right, but I think it is.

Wow...Obamacare will make those in Congress pay the same rates for insurance that the rest of us do? Horrors!! Because now, I believe they get a pretty sweet (public subsidized) deal.

edsel, Congress is not alone in having a sweet deal. Many large companies provide very lucrative health benefits at this time.

While you may want to chuckle at Congress having to pay more, those increases are going to hit many, many people. Laugh on.

Deane, if these lawmakers are quitting because of health care costs, where are they running off to? Because they'll have to get health care somehow, wherever they go.

Nobody is quitting over the cost of health care.

Sure, it's expensive. What is the alternative? Are we saying we can't take care of our own, leaving people on the don't get sick and die quickly plan?

Did you know we helped write the Iraqi Constitution? Go and read it. We made sure they had universal health care.

Just about every other nation takes care of it's own, and we can't with all the wealth here?

Yeah, people are expensive. We've got to pay them and we need to maintain them so that they are productive or we lose out.

Seems to me, this cost panic is a great time to start talking about care DELIVERY costs, not ACCESS costs, as we've already done some work on ACCESS, but very little on DELIVERY.

Small business is/will be "quitting" in a sense, as you might say, over this issue.

Of course its already happening Employees being either furlowed outright or having hours cut and massaged to reduce the Employer's group insurance responsibility...eventually requiring all the partimers to pick up the pool insurance yet to be determined to comply with the 'affordable' healthcare act.

This is already a mess..and its going to get a lot worse...
