I noticed in the May ratings, KBFF is no longer listed. Any guesses?

Looks like they are #12 on this list:

KXTG is going to have to do something quick or they're toast!

Nope KXTG, 1080 the Fan and "Rip City" Radio really don't have to do anything. Advertisers love these stations for live sports. People can't channel surf to go to other stations so they end up hearing the ads, not listening to them, but hearing them.

So plenty of advertising dollars, just sucky ratings. When you listen to "non stop music" when the commercials come, it's easily 5 minutes and listeners move on, bad for advertisers.

Stations that only draw listeners for a sporting event are deadweight on the bottom line. The power bill alone makes them spendy to keep on the air 24/7 and except perhaps for the super bowl and world series, the spot rate just for college games and the blazers isn't big enough.

Owning these licenses is justified at corporate HQ not by profitability, but by hogging bandwidth so some other goon can't own the channel and maybe do something airworthy with it.

The other problem with running sports events is it alienates the listeners of the regular programming. At least with sports talk it's an event the regular programming would be talking about.

Anyone want to make a friendly bet that Sports 910 has more listeners than KBOO (since KBOO isn't in the released 6+ anymore)?

Interesting. They aren't listed in the ratings on stationratings.com. They have them listed in "other stations located in the market", not ranked.
Just noticed that KEX is not ranked by them either.

The link shows Z100 as Hot AC! Need I say more? May I suggest a free subscription to "All Access"?
