I've noticed KGW's weekend anchor Abbey Gibb has been missing on-air. Checking KGW's anchor page her photo is gone. Anyone have the story on this? I'd like to think she moved up in the TV world with a better offer and was not shown the door. By the way, does KATU's Anna Canzano (formerly Anna Song before marrying John Cazano) hold the record for holding onto a weekend anchor position in Portland?

Her Twitter has been updated to say she is now a reporter/fill-in anchor for KING 5 and NWCN in Seattle.

Ken Boddie might be the weekend king here.

Speaking of MIA from KGW, what happened to their helicopter, Sky 8? Used to be a daily ritual to have it included in the traffic reports in the morning but haven't seen it used in many, many months and also was used for "Friday Night Flights" or whatever they called it for coverage of high school football. Back on topic, look at how many KGW staff have moved on to sister station KING in Seattle.

From Pat Dooris' Facebook back in June:

Oh my...good bye to Sky 8 and pilot Daron and photog Justin. Its being sold...they're looking for new jobs. I have incredible memories with that chopper--including the time we were live and the rescue chopper crashed and rolled on Mt. Hood. Ugh. They are great guys and who ever snaps them up will be lucky!

As the previous poster said Sky 8 is gone. KGW tried to partner with KPTV to share a chopper. Not sure if that happened or not. Expect a number of changes at KGW now that the Gannett deal has closed. Very nervous times over at 15th and Jeff. One of those changes already announced will involve a certain morning personality who will be shifting to the evening news block. I'm sure more to come... stay tuned

Maybe we ought to flood social media with a 'where's KGW's chopper?' campaign just to get megamedia moguls panties in a bunch.

Joe, thanks for the answer. Hmmmm... Now something is coming to me. I recently saw that reporter Dave Northfield has returned to KGW after I believe leaving KGW for KING some years ago. Perhaps there was a Gibb for Northfield trade? ChrisCross' news has me curious about more changes. I'll stay tuned.
