---------------WMBD/Peoria's Robbins And Markley Officially Add Midday Duties At KXL/Portland---------------

ALPHA MEDIA News-Talk KXL-A/PORTLAND has officially tapped sister News-Talk WMBD-A-W262BY/PEORIA afternoon hosts SCOTT ROBBINS and JAMIE MARKLEY for its new 9a-noon show, filling the gap left by the recent departure of JIM VILLANUCCI. ROBBINS and MARKLEY, who have been filling in since VILLANUCCI's departure, will host 9a-noon (PT) on KXL while continuing to host 2-6p (CT) on WMBD.

EVP/Programming SCOTT MAHALICK said, “We’re very privileged and blessed to work with legendary talk talents such as SCOTT ROBBINS and JAMIE MARKLEY that can bring the live and local professionalism and energy to the PACIFIC NORTHWEST.”

ROBBINS said, “We’re delighted to join the incredible staff at KXL. Words can’t describe how excited we are,” and MARKLEY added, “When I was 10 years old, I think I was the only kid growing up in ILLINOIS with a PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS shirt. Joining KXL in PORTLAND is like a dream come true!”

I've been listen to them all this week and personally I think they will catch on in Portland and become a hit. I didn't even realize they weren't in the KXL studios. They sure are lively!

I've listened too and while I don't think it will be a "hit", it is better that generic syndicated talk, which Alpha could have certainly done if cost cutting was job 1.

One difference is this isn't a multi market show - it's guys from out of town doing a show just for PDX. Let's give it some time and see what happens.

WMBD is a 5kw directional AM station they're on in Peoria. I think Alpha's plan is to test the water in Portland with them for while and see if they catch on. If they do I'm sure they'd prefer to be based at a 97kw FM, so I think Alpha will move them to Portland.
