Anyone who thinks Hillary Clinton's nomination in 2016 is a sure thing is an idiot and has obviously forgotten what happened to her less than eight years ago. A lot can change in a few years, just as it did for then-Senate Obama leading up to 2008. We'll have to see who if anyone emerges as a compelling alternative to Clinton - assuming she chooses to run, which itself is not necessarily a sure thing.

Trixter, Jeb Bush is plenty smart, as is Cruz. Compare these qualified individuals with a retread of the Clintons. Does it really make sense to go backwards?

Jeb Bush is apparently a bit brighter than his older brother. He sure SOUNDS smarter, anyway, although that doesn't mean he really is.

Ted Cruz is apparently a highly intelligent guy. I guess if you like Joe McCarthy, you think he's the bee's knees, but I think the guy is a bit scary. I doubt I'd vote for Jeb Bush, but at least he doesn't scare me as some sort of sociopath.

As NP points out, Cruz is ineligible. (It's interesting how all of that "natural born citizen" stuff has died away, eh?) How is Jeb Bush not a "retread"? If anything is the embodiment of "moving backwards," it's voting for Bush III. I still have confidence that someone else besides a Bush or a Clinton is capable of leading this country.

No, Cruz is eligible to run for President. His mother is American, and he was born in Canada while his parents were working there. He actually has dual citizenship, but has made promises to renounce his Canadian citizenship.

If either of your parents are American, you are a "natural born citizen" regardless of where the birth takes place. Same reason McCain could run, though he was born in Panama.

But for some reason, those same rules don't apply to Obama(according to the hardest-core O'Haters). Perhaps one of the birthers could explain further? According to Politifact, it COULD be an issue if someone pushed on it.

Most of the CONs that would run would do just that. Same garbage as DUHbya and Co. is going backwards and we know how that ended up. DISASTER!!!!!

Cruz is scary as hell if you ask me. The comparison to Joe McCarthy is spot on.

As for his intelligence, he's intelligent like a serial killer. Not the kind of intelligence I admire.
