It's all but offical, Dave Smith has been fired from the Game. All that's left now is for Brian Jennings to write a press release where he wishes Dave "success in his future endeavors!"

I have to say I was not a Dave Smith fan. But he sounded like a good guy and I'm sad to see him go so fast.

Apparently from what I've been able to gather on twitter, Dave says he was blind-sided by this yesterday and claims he doesn't know why he was fired.

Also that he has been told that he was doing a "great job" and that he wasn't told why he was fired.

I think there might be a big line up change at the Game.
From what Canzano was inferring today on his show, he might be on the move to middays. Or not.

Anyways, if anyone wants to say goodbye to Dave, he's having a party at the Buffalo Wild Wings in downtown Portland tomorrow during the Blazer game.

What a train wreck. Just go back and look at the things Jennings said about Smith when he hired him. Jennings couldn't even give Smith a YEAR? Oh, wait, there must be someone who's willing to do it for even LESS money.
Bokeyni has been wearing many hats these days, looks like he inherited (or lobbied) for another one. They already have him up on the site as the guy in Smith's old slot.

The only mistake Jennings made was hiring Smith in the first place. He was brutal.

Why are we still discussing the game and the fan, both aren't worth the feed they're broadcasted on. If you want half-truths or the constant sucking up to Paul Allen and Phil Knight than listen. Most of us don't care.

Sound like Smith is not the only one who lost his job....Jennings is now a "Senior Advisor", not PD of anything....or VP of Programming....

    From Pamplin's "The Outlook"-

"Big changes at KXTG “The Game” (750 AM): Midday host Dave Smith is out, and program director Brian Jennings has been moved to a position as senior advisor.

“Just decided to move in a different direction,” says Bob Proffitt, president and CEO of Alpha Broadcasting.

Smith lasted only six months, hardly long enough to bill himself as “The Hawk.” Bernard Bokenyi will fill his noon-to-3 p.m. slot on an interim basis and Chad “The Body” Doing will take over Smith’s duties as host of the “Fifth Quarter” Trail Blazers post-game program.

Proffitt says it is “to be determined” what will be done with the noon-to-3 p.m. slot, adding he is leaning toward procuring a local host but that using a national show is possible.

“It depends,” Proffitt says. “We’re looking at a bunch of options.”

Scott Mahalick — who had served as program director at several Alpha-owned stations in the Portland area — has been promoted to program direction of all stations and will assume Jennings’ role at “The Game.”"

So THAT'S why Jennings didn't reply to my email.

As a Portland native, I do listen to The Game about a hour a week online. It's OK, but I think it could be a lot better. The problem with Alpha Broadcasting is that they don't have a well organized management team in place. I know that Brian Jennings has experience in broadcasting, but he has not done a good job in programming the station. I think he needs to focus his talents at KXL and Freedom 970.

If I was at The Game, I would hire a new station/sports program director for that station (exclusively). Also, I think Scott Mahalick has had a so-so record. Live 95.5 has done well, but 101 KUFO struggled in the ratings and is off the air. Yes, some could be blame on former KUFO's owner (CBS) and losing Howard Stern. However, Mahalick should focus on the music stations.

Just tuned in for 10 minutes to the guy they replaced Smith with. Bernard or something.

He spent 15-20 minutes talking about Batman with his "in-house movie critic" who is clearly an intern with too much time on his hands.

At least Smith could talk sports... this nutsack is talking about Batman.

SomkingaBONGERIV, that's part of sports talk NOT every single second is talking about sports. If it was 99% of sports talk would be ALL Tebow all the time right now.... YUCK!
