There was a time when you could call a station in the middle of the night without having to make a stew in public but those days are long gone.

Could someone at KEX PLEASE fix the top of the hour. I believe it's been weeks now that we've been hearing "sound on sound" the latest at 2am. Promos and ID I believe 30 seconds but probably 15 because it sounds so bad, over ABC newscaster. Thought by now someone would have heard about this, or tuned into their own station.

Weeks before this (for the readers) KEX had been having a lack of programmed spots up to ABC so there would be 30 seconds of dead air. Now someone is over shooting the mark. I'm thinking someone in program automation was fired or left and a new person is learning the ropes. Someone needs to check this persons work. I realize personnel are worked to death, assigned five or six jobs with little time for this kind of attention but it shows on the air and yes people listen at 2am, 3am, 4am.

Most of you don't like the overnight crackpots you broadcast I realize but they have just as much right to a trouble free program, as much as your beloved Rush Limbaugh.

    Thank You in advance.

It was a 50 second element entered as a 30. Doesn't matter so much in live programming. Nat'l programming no like.

Could someone review the train wreck at 4:00am Sunday Morning on KEX going into ABC. Missed most of the breaking earthquake story in California because of the sound on sound.

It has nothing to do with politics. If it did, I would swear that someone has it in for another right-wing talk show, The Bill Cunningham Show that airs on KEX Sunday nights 7-10 p.m. Sound-on-sound is almost a weekly occurrence on the show and has been for years. The sound-on-sound last for minutes at times. It makes me wonder if anyone at KEX or Clear Channel even cares.

So this morning we have a time switch at 2am. You'd think someone in KEX management would monitor the station for a awhile "in bed" to see how it goes.

As a public service, let me be the one to report what happened:

Top of the hour ABC News played great, then into local spots as usual, then into "Coast To Coast AM" but the KEX spots didn't stop. We had sound on sound with KEX eventually going into "ABC Tech Trends." Then into more local spots and "Coast To Coast AM" national spots playing as well. Then another "Tech Trend." Then more local spots to about :13 after the hour.

KEX announcement of ABC News is coming up "triggered." We went from sound on sound to dead air because the newscast hadn't arrived yet and it blanks out Premiere Network filler. I thought dead air would run for about two minutes but it ran for about five minutes.

My assumption was the KEX dead air alarm went off and someone was trying to fix the problem from a home computer. About 18 after the hour "Coast To Coast AM" came back on with no more problems, although I have no idea who the host was talking to right now.

Under Gene Autry's Golden West management, that wouldn't have happened at KEX or any of his other stations. There would've been a live person running the board. Why isn't there one?

Under ANY management 20 years ago, this wouldn't have happened! :(

There isn't one because management figured out that they can buy new studio equipment that doesn't require humans to push the buttons to make it go. :(
