Being he is an Arab, the courts and his family dishonor his remains by not burying them immediately after his death, like Jews.

This is all about his estate and control thereof.

Being that he was an over rated "voice" with ties to terrorism, I certainly don't give a shit about his remains being in the cooler, but his own family should be ashamed.

Agreed, his family should be ashamed.

As for an "over rated voice", well, maybe. But there is no denying his shows were popular, and after just two weeks running his old 70's show, our comments are through the roof on the positive side. Nostalgia? Yes. But also he had great content and it was presented in an organized way that never got in the way of the music. The only weak part of this package is the first hour where they countdown from #40 to about #28, where most of the titles never really became hits, or only became hits on the R&B or Country charts. But that adds to the charm of the show, IMO.

He was just a voice. The show began as a three-hour program written and directed by Don Bustany, counting down the top 40 songs on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart. The producing staff expanded to eight people, some of them still in the business: Nikki Wine, Ben Marichal, Scott Paton, Matt Wilson, Merrill Shindler, Guy Aoki, Ronnie Allen and Sandy Stert Benjamin. (Bustany retired from AT40 in 1989).

Eventually they switched to R&R's Hot 100 but the bottom line is that Kasem was just a voice. He didn't pick the music, Billboard did, he didn't write the text he read, his staff did. His "great content" had little to do with his own creativity. It could have been hosted by many other "voices" and been quite successful. He takes credit as a co-creator together with a handful of people, but let's face it, the success of this program was because it was just a radio version of American Bandstand which was IMO infinitely better and had been around since the 50's, long before AT40. The bands got to appear on TV whose hits we were hearing on the radio, putting a face to the music even thought it was lip synced.. Dick Clark was 1000 fold better than Kasem and a much better human being as well. Plus American Bandstand wasn't programmed by Billboard and Dick Clark actually broke new upcoming acts. AT40 isn't even in the same league, again IMO.

As for its continued popularity with certain demographics, some folks never get past hit music and still cling voraciously to the music of their teen years. These people are not people I have much respect for, but hey, if that's what your target is, have at it. Just sayin'

Maybe someday Mr. Packard can share what he personally knows about this latest turn in the saga which is Casey Kasem.....

I would say that Jean Kasem is a certifiable psycho, but that would be excusing the fact that she is an evil witch. What an absolutely horrid human. All that Casey's family wants to do is lay him to rest and obtain peace of mind. Jean Kasem is obviously a goldigger and is looking to have her way, her attention and her money. I'm willing to bet that she will cause Casey's children further pain and heartbreak right up until someone throws water on her. I feel sorry for Kerri Casem. I met her once and can say that she's a complete sweetheart. Intelligent, as well. Casey deserved much better than this.

This macabre tale from All Access:

--------------------Allegation Answers Why Casey Kasem's Body Is Somewhere In Montreal--------------------

The macabre tale of CASEY KASEM's remains took an even more sordid twist today, as the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS quotes a private detective alleging that the reason JEAN KASEM flew the body to MONTREAL, listing the funeral home URGEL BOURGIE as the place of disposition -- even though the funeral home denies receiving the body -- (NET NEWS, 7/21) is that MONTREAL is the home town of JOHN PAUL GRESSY, a Canadian businessman rumored to be romantically involved with the widow.

The private investigator, LOGAN CLARKE, asserts that GRESSY has been living in JEAN KASEM's MALIBU condo for months, and that “Neighbors have seen them holding hands and acting close,” CLARKE told the paper. “I welcome her to sue me if I'm wrong.”

Meanwhile, KERRI KASEM posted a message on TWITLONGER about the situation: "Let me clear a few things up," she wrote. "First of all, my Dad is not "missing," JEAN KASEM knows exactly where he is and she is HIDING him from his friends and family ... we will find out where my Dad is buried when the law that I am working on passes. There is a provision in the "Visitation Law" AB2034 that states the conservator/guardian must notify the immediate family when the ailing parent is in the hospital, upon death and where they are buried. JEAN KASEM will be court ordered to tell us where our Dad is.
"If my father is buried in MONTREAL, CANADA a place my Dad has NO connection to, it just further proves that even in death as in life, JEAN has tried to keep us away from our father. No matter what she does now … DAD IS ALWAYS WITH US."
