    They're calling it progressive community radio. They're already FCC-licensed, now they're fund-raising.

They have a Kickstarter ( where they're over 3/4 of the way toward their first goal of $40,000 toward construction of their studio.

In 2012 when Clear Channel ended KPOJ’s progressive talk radio station in Portland, our community lost two of the most popular progressive talk hosts our we ever had - Carl Wolfson and Thom Hartmann. XRAY’s launch will reunite and broadcast those two.

Northwest icons Cort and Bobby will return to FM with “Welcome to that Whole Thing.” The groundbreaking Lund Report will bring you health policy news. Carla Axtman from Blue Oregon and former KPOJ wildcard Adam Klugman will report current events. Bitch Media will bring their feminist perspective to pop culture with Popaganda. Listeners will enjoy Kickass Oregon History's take on our past. We will innovate with new shows, including programs from Native American voices, a Non-Profit Hour, a “Millennial Retort” focusing on next generation doers, and a food report from Feast co-founders Carrie Welch and Mike Thelin. Plus a bunch more stuff we’ll announce later. (As a supporter, you’ll get to hear about new announcements first, of course.) XRAY.FM will put a boom mic to the best of Portland.

I am really pleased to learn Cort and Bobby will be on the the air here. Carl is excellent, and we know Thom. Looking forward to checking it all out.

Entercom should have given 1390 to XRAY!

The station is only 8 watts of power, is that enough power to make it across the street for goodness sake?

Perhaps the idea is to get the thing going, get some minimal radio broadcasting going, stream it all online, and build up a listener base from which they might expand later - to a more powerful transmitter on some existing station?

Well, years ago, when the 8 watt KRRC was located at Reed College, I could DX it from the Sylvan area using a Radio Shack 10 element Yagi and a Pioneer 9100 tuner... Never did hear it from Hillsboro, in spite of improved tuners/antennas. I *will* try when they get on the air, but I suspect that it will be swamped out by KWAX Eugene.

Oh joy Cort Webber back on the air.

Once again Portland radio shows that it's nothing but a giant swamp. Nothing new comes in. Nothing old never leaves.
