Buddy Simmons, Air Personality & TV Host Dies at 86

    Buddy Simmons started as an Air Personality on KPVA 1480 Camas in 1959. When the station changed it call letters to KVAN in 1960 Buddy became Program Director until 1962. Buddy moved to KRDR 1230 in 1963 becoming the stations Music Director from 1967 to 1973. On Television, Buddy hosted KPTV's "Northwest Jamboree" on Saturday evenings in 1959. Then on KATU the Sunday evening "Hoedown" from 1964 to 1966, moving to KGW-TV Saturday afternoons for "The Buddy Simmons Show."

    His group "Buddy Simmons & His Oregon Trailblazers" had been heard on 910 KVAN from 1956 to 1957 live at the "Division Street Corral." "Buddy Simmons & The Drifters" were seen at places like "Springers" from 1959 to 1965.
