"The government doesn't "run" the Post Office. The US Congress does,"

Oh, I didn't realize that the US Congress wasn't part of the government.

I feel that most members of Congress think they are above the government though.

No, Congress wasn't part of "the government" last time I checked. You're thinking of the executive branch.

I don't want nor will I take a government hand out now or ever. If I ever lose my insurance through my employer I will not participate in this socialist experiment.

If you don't buy insurance and have income higher than a certain amount, you'll have to pay a penalty on your taxes. You can always choose to lie like any other tax cheat - maybe you'll get away with it. I mean, I could lie on my taxes and claim a mortgage deduction too and hope I never get audited. If I do, I'm going to have to pay back the difference plus fines and penalties. If I refuse to pay, the government can/will put a lien on my house or garnish my wages. Same for you. But hey - I urge you to "fight the man" and refuse to pay and see what happens.

I could stand up self-righteously like you and refuse not to take the mortgage deduction, because I feel it's wrong that I should have to pay more in taxes just because I disagree with the law. Good luck with that.

My office just made me pay 20 % more on my work taxes! I now have to pay 36 % ! And my office says the same stupid thing: "It's for Obamacare." That's just one of my work's most weirdest decisions! I don't even think paying an extra 6 % on your paycheck makes a difference. Oh wait, It doesn't! Anyone agree with me?

Well, if you get sick then you get a nice return on that investment just like everybody else we get insured.

Ideally, we get everybody someday and we do the work to continue to bring costs down. Long road ahead, but one that's long overdue.

As for Sarah "I do my politics on Facebook after FOX canned me" Palin, she's a loon, quitter, and likely not a significant impact on any of this, other than to make some of the objectors feel better about it all.

I'm not sure what you mean.

You didn't have health insurance before, but now Obamacare is forcing your company to provide it? And they are making you partly pay for it? I also don't know what "20%" means or whether that covers just you or others in your family.

As missing says, it will work out better for you to be insured than not. You won't have to rely on the emergency room as your primary care physician.

Zek, your office lies. And secondly, you're not paying 36%, that's a withholding. What you pay is what you pay when you file, and if too much is withheld, you get a tax refund. What is withheld has nothing to do with your actual tax liability.

Oh joy! Sarah Palin crawled out from whatever rock she was under to say something. Of course it's a swipe at Obama and nothing else. Sarah brings nothing to the table. Does she know that she's a joke and nothing else? Why can't she just be like a dead salmon and just rot away?

As for "Obamacare." We're screwed one way or another. I'm just waiting until an alien invasion to take place. When that happens, all of the problems that we have against each other will go out the window. Don't believe me. Ronald Reagan talk about how a alien invasion would change the world. And conservatives eat up everything that Reagan said and did. They can't be wrong, can they?

They are making me pay 6 %, because my insurance plan doesn't start until December 31. In addition, they want me to pay 6 %, due to the companies idea, of providing free healthcare for life. It's just another stupid idea, I'm sure. I live with another 2 family members, so, maybe my company has to make me pay 2 % more per person. But since I'm not insured, I'm pretty sure any person in the U.S. would understand that they have to pay more on their paycheck. Oh, by the way, I'm getting insured with MetLife, which is $65/mo.

Well - this has nothing to do with "Obamacare" then which has no "healthcare for life" provision. (And since you get Medicare when you hit 65, your company wouldn't need to provide coverage after that.) Sounds like some BS they are telling you to cover up some other decision they made.

$65/month for insurance is freakin' nothing. I have no idea what that has to do with increased withholding, either.
