Authorities say a man and a woman forced themselves into a home in unincorporated Milwaukie on Thursday, assaulted and robbed the homeowner and stole his truck.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Sgt. Dan Kraus said the home invasion occurred around 10:15 p.m. on the 3900 block of Southeast Aldercrest Rd., just south of Milwaukie.

The homeowner opened his front door when a woman came to the home asking for help, Kraus said. Once the door was open, the woman brandished a gun and a male accomplice helped force the pair inside. Two shots were fired during a struggle with the homeowner, who was also armed, Kraus said.

After assaulting the man, the pair stole items from the home and then drove off in the homeowner's grey Dodge crew cab pickup. The homeowner called 911 and was soon treated by rescue personnel.

First mistake was opening the door without knowing exactly who is on the other side.

Second is opening the door without being partially behind it so it can't be shoved all the way open.
