--------------------------------------On Air Talent MIA At Live 95.5/Portland, OR--------------------------------------

What's up at ALPHA MEDIA Top 40 KBFF (LIVE 95.5)/PORTLAND, OR?

ALL ACCESS ears in the market report the station's entire air-staff exited MONDAY (9/8). Night slammer OSO FRESH, RALEIGH (part time DJ, social media gal) APD/MD/afternooner STACEY LYNN and Middayer MAX appear to be out.

The changes follow morning co-hosts MIKE EDWARDS and TANYA BROWN exiting in AUGUST (NET NEWS 8/8) and PD LOUIE DIAZ leaving for CUMULUS Top 40 KLIF (i93 Hits)/DALLAS just two weeks ago (NET NEWS 8/29).

Listener KARL ANDRES wrote on the station's FACEBOOK page, "You guys have lost your number 1 fan!!! You let go of all the best D.J.s!!! No mixing people either!! When your last you will know why. You were my top radio station id go to. But that is no more. No Oso, Raleigh, Stacey, or Max. Very sad. I will never get why you let all those fabulous souls go. I'm sorry if i sadden you but i counted on all of them to make my day and now none of them are on."

Like a radio station cares about what a listener thinks or cares about. Listener input isn't thought of, needed, or wanted.

If only listeners knew how radio station owners and management truly think and treat D.J. or air talent. People would be surprised.

    Update from All Access:

On-Air Changes At Live 95.5/Portland, OR

ALPHA MEDIA Top 40 KBFF (LIVE 95.5)/PORTLAND, OR has pulled the air staff off the air, with some folks exiting -- and some remaining in different roles.

VP/Programming PHIL BECKER explained to ALL ACCESS that APD/MD/afternooner STACEY LYNN comes off the air, but keeps her programming duties. Middayer MAX has moved to an off-air programming assistant. Support staffers JEFF ALLEN and SCOTT LANDER come off of KBFF, but continue their support roles on sister Country KUPL.

Mixer DJ OSO FRESH and swing-shifter RALEIGH are no longer with the company.

With the recent changes, BECKER said, "we are looking to add to our team. Interested applicants can apply at jobs.portland@alphabroadcasting.com."

Sounds like they are just going to fully automate the whole thing, based on the doublespeak they gave All Access.
Cutting costs to save the bottom line.

    There was a group owner
    That lived in a shoe
She had so may channels to program
And didn't know what to do.

So she hooked them all up
To a Dell in the rack
    And made even more money
    For the owners on crack.

What Alpha is going to make "Live 95.5" not live, and possibly not even Local?

Guess they are becoming like everybody else.

I don't think they will operate Live 95.5 without jocks indefinitely. They will either hire a new air staff, or they are just keeping the boat afloat before a format switch.

    95.5 The Bull?

So "STACEY LYNN comes off the air, but keeps her programming duties. Middayer MAX has moved to an off-air programming assistant. Support staffers JEFF ALLEN and SCOTT LANDER come off of KBFF, but continue their support roles on sister Country KUPL."

All these folks get reduced duties, right? So I assume, reduced (even more) salaries also? That sucks. I thought Alpha was supposed to be the good guys in PDX.

Mr. Lander, can you shed some light, or is that verboten? Inquiring minds...

My take, before I read the All Access story, was that because they aren't teasing the audience, an actual format change is planned. One possibility would be a direct or indirect attack of Jammin'. That could explain the reason to eliminate the existing staff and the website makes it look like there never was one. Another possibility is to put The Game back on 95.5 and the timing may be better this time around plus they haven't done that well on 750. Now, it gets interesting. A simulcast would begin with 750 and at some point, the AM would be split off and return to simulcasting KXL. Still later, they might return 101 to a music format. The All Access story doesn't make any sense, without teasing the audience. On air, this sounds more like a station that's about to change format. I'm thinking this weekend.
