"Canzano. The hardest working man in radio. Never misses a day. The iron man champion of the AM dial...."

Quantity has never equated to quality.

I hope they don't get rid of Canzano. I see him almost every week as he's flying out to where ever Oregon or Oregon State are playing, he orders from me and we talk a bit. He had his daughter last time ... he's sincere (to me anyways) and REALLY nice.

Nice guy, good for business! :)

Oh they won't get rid of him, the station will fold before that and then maybe the bald one will end up on am 620. His ego is far to big for him not to be on some station telling us how right he is about everything.

The Lars larson of the sports station.

Could all of these layoffs really be a request by Bank of America to show that Larry Wilson and Company can make a profit before the Triad Communications Deal became final?

So Larry and his friends could buy more stations he had to have additional road kill.

The pathetic state of radio ownership continues.

... along with the pathetic state of what listeners hear... wonder why they are leaving radio to use iPods and computers to listen to what they want to hear...

Why? Because radio stopped being about music about twenty years ago. Radio is about targeted advertising based on a system of "ratings" that is about people tuning in without listening. Selling ads is now about being able to offer a sponsor time on a host of bad formats that appeal to all tastes within an age group. Tragically, this keeps the money circulating between big corporate sponsors and even bigger corporate broadcast groups. The bigger the market the worse the problem. Radio died in 1996 and the corpse is still deteriorating. So if you sniff around and it makes you gag, you'll know why. It's not going to change. The big broadcasters are more hooked than a smack addict in the big city. Downtown, coming out of the ad agency building, the guy with the thousand dollar suit, 300 dollar haircut and the expensive cologne easing into his Jaguar. He's the cluster sales manager. Don't you want to be like him?

Whiskey bottles, and brand new cars
Oak tree you're in my way
There's too much coke and too much smoke
Look what's going on inside you
    Ooooh that smell
    Can't you smell that smell
    Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you

Angel of darkness is upon you
Stuck a needle in your arm
So take another toke, have a blow for your nose
One more drink fool, will drown you
    Ooooh that smell
    Can't you smell that smell
    Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you

Now they call you Prince Charming
Can't speak a word when you're full of 'ludes
Say you'll be all right come tomorrow
But tomorrow might not be here for you
    Ooooh that smell
    Can't you smell that smell
    Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you

    Hey, you're a fool you
Stick them needles in your arm
I know I been there before

One little problem that confronts you
Got a monkey on your back
Just one more fix, Lord might do the trick
One hell of a price for you to get your kicks
    Ooooh that smell
    Can't you smell that smell
    Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you
    Ooooh that smell
    Can't you smell that smell
    Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you

I wonder how many more radio jobs will be lost if the FCC approves a change in ownership rules. http://act.freepress.net/sign/murdoch_powergrab
