The Saturday Oregonian yesterday, in mentioning Inessa Anderson being laid off from KINK Wednesday, the article goes on to say this:

"Of the cuttbacks, Alpha Broadcasting Chief Operating Officer Bob Proffitt said 10 people, across all departments, were laid off on Wednesday, "after analysis of several markets across the country" and of Portland broadcast groups."

So who were the other NINE that were laid off?

Whoever was has to very distrubed that some anaylst 3,000 miles away has told them that these 10 people have to be laid off for financial reasons rather than personnel-related.
In other words, the people behind the mikes don't matter anymore. Making the Almighty Dollars do. And the listeners be darned...because they don't matter anymore, eiether.

This is what North America is reading from All Access. Still a BIG SECRET who the other nine were:

--------------------Inessa Anderson Among Those Let Go At Alpha Broadcasting/Portland--------------------

ALPHA BROADCASTING/PORTLAND made some staff reductions to its cluster last week (11/14), and among them was KINK night and "Homegrown Music Spotlight" host INESSA ANDERSON. She had been at the station for 12 years.

The company has not released any of the names of the nine people whose positions were eliminated.

Thanks to readers, we're starting to piece this together. This was sent to me:

Country Aircheck was reporting in today's online edition that TikTak was laid off from KUPL and that Danny Dwyer was voicetracking nights. TikTak was at KUPL 18 months.

So who's in favor of voice tracking now? Show of hands. As has been posted in the past basically nobody listens to radio after drive time (easily after 7 pm). So they needed somebody back east to inform Alpha Broadcasting of this?

So it would appear that the lay offs are for the after 7 crowd. As for TikTak if he was laid off, boy did he make a wrong career move just a few months ago.

He supposedly switched shifts with Bdub so he would have time to fix up his house. So Bdub has a job and TikTak........

It's dubious, to say the least, that a shift trade figured into the decision whom to let go.

I must say Alpha has been, in general, a huge disappointment. Big promises, little sustained follow-through. Like Pamplin a decade ago but on a larger scale. But I remain convinced that locally owned radio can do much better than either of these examples suggest.

One of Alpha's main production guys, Darren Kelly, was among those laid off. I've known Darren since his first radio gig at KITI in Chehalis. You may not know Darren by name, but you've heard his voice. The idiots who made these cuts don't deserve to have anything to do with radio.

Why not add Lars. He ranted on Monday that Matt Lauer should have taken a pay cut to keep jobs for employees at NBC. But to my knowledge Lars didn't offer to take a pay cut to keep any of the ten job at Alpha Broadcasting.

    Mr. Pefectly two faced.

As for Canzano this past March during Spring Break he took his daughter (and Anna Canzano) to Oahu on a bartered trip. He stated on promos that he was going to be broadcasting from Hawaii.

Well he didn't broadcast from there, and it was just the use of a free vacation. Oh yes I was there and ran into Canzano and his daughter a couple of times, the one mentioned in Thursday's Oregonian article.

Canzano. The hardest working man in radio. Never misses a day. The iron man champion of the AM dial....
